Singer Bebe Rexha has revealed that she was in hospital recently with a burst cyst, a result of her having an incurable hormonal condition. The 34-year-old I’m A Mess singer has polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS, which can cause hormonal imbalances, irregular periods and, as its name suggests, cysts in the ovaries.
Bebe Rexha talks about PCOS. It can lead to infertility, and though its cause is not known, women with a family history or type 2 diabetes are at higher risk of developing the syndrome. Taking to social media this week, Rexha said her burst cyst left her in “so much pain”. “My doctor ... she thought it was appendicitis, it was so bad,” she said. “It was actually a cyst that had burst.
