A man has allegedly broken into a house, stolen a police uniform and then brandished a firearm on a road in Melbourne’s southeast. The man is believed to have broken into a home at Malvern East about 3pm on Sunday and stolen the police-issue clothing, including a shirt and boots. While he was inside, one of the occupants came home and confronted him. The man then fled on foot.
Police, the Air Wing and the dog squad all searched the area, but could not find the man. But they then received another call that he was at a licensed premises on Dandenong Rd at Oakleigh. When they arrived, they found the man, who was allegedly wearing the police uniform and who also had a belt with an imitation firearm in it. The 46-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene.
