Hotels, bars, clubs, small bars and live music venues could trade until the early morning if they screen Matildas games or the swimming finals, the government said on Friday.
The special trading hours encouraged a vibrant nightlife for residents and tourists, Minister for the Night-time Economy John Graham said. “There is nothing like cheering home a gold medal winner with friends and community. Special event extended trading will support that – as well as an economic boost and more jobs at night,” he said.
