WA tourists have told how they had a close escape when several villas went up in flames in Bali. A large fire reportedly started in the popular tourist area of Seminyak about 10.30pm on Thursday, with a number of villas and homes burnt to the ground. It is understood Amaysa Villas was the accommodation that went up in flames. Videos posted to social media show lots of people along the busy tourist strip as the fire engulfs accommodation just metres away.
He said the villas and houses behind him were on fire and the blaze quickly spread to other buildings with thatched rooves. “Unfortunately the wind was carrying embers which ignited other buildings. At one stage I counted nine fire engines. He went back to the villa around 1am and managed to rescue half of his items. “The place is covered in back soot and ash, but fortunately our villa did not burn except for the pool umbrella,” he wrote.
