The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, adjourned the trial of a former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, till January 31.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr Suswam and the then Commissioner for Finance in his administration, Omadachi Oklobia, are being prosecuted before the court on N3.1 billion money laundering charges. At the resumed hearing on Friday, the 1st defendant ’s counsel, Chinelo Ogbozor, enumerated reasons the court should adjourn the matter.
Mrs Ogbozor also said the prosecution counsel had just served them with about 200-page additional proof of evidence the previous day , thereby denying them of the adequate time and facility to respond to the application as provided for by Section 36 and Item 4 of the Practice Direction of the Federal High Court.
