With its huge reliance on Chinese tourism, the Gold Coast is feeling the impact of the coronavirus acutely, but not all markets are suffering equally.

While the State Government has announced small and medium businesses can defer their payroll tax obligations for six months, the spread of coronavirus in other countries makes predicting the long-term impact difficult.Last week, Japan moved to shut its schools for about a month, leading to unexpected consequences for Aquaduck, an amphibious tour bus company.

Ms Colgate said around 20 per cent of her business is dependent on international visitors, but that they have managed to avoid the worst of the travel ban.
