'No reason vaccine can’t be found in Ontario': Ford announces $20 million research investment

Ford went on to tout the province’s track record related to medical research, stating that Ontario “has some of the best research facilities and hospitals in the world.”

Minister of Colleges and Universities Ross Romano stood alongside Ford at Saturday’s news conference and echoed his sentiment. “We want to find a vaccine at the soonest possible opportunity, like all of you - that is our priority.” Ontario's Official Opposition released a statement regarding the funding later in the day, noting that the $20 million dollars “follows Doug Ford’s $25 million cut to the Health System Research Fund one year ago,” which was part of the “$51 million slash to Health Policy and Research, overall.”

He's hoping it's found in Ontario so he can be a hero. Hoping Ontarians will forget his bungling & cuts before COVID19. I fully expect if we do develop a vaccine, he'll drive the first case in his own pickup truck & unload it for a photo op. And media will get sucked in again.

Mixed feelings here. Ontario has excellent research facilities to potentially develop this vaccine. If so, could these Dollars be returned to healthcare where cuts were made? It’s been hard to see cuts yet we do clearly need a vaccine and have the researchers for it.

20 million he is giving to felons that make vaccines. And then they kickback a million back to him and next, they’re all rich. And nobody is healthier. Then repeat 5 more times.

20 million is a start but 100 million would be alot more realistic in order to attract top ranking scientists.
