- Warren Buffett on Saturday gave an upbeat assessment of the United States’ ability to withstand crises, even as he acknowledged that the coronavirus pandemic could have a wide range of impacts on the economy.
The 89-year-old Buffett spoke at Berkshire Hathaway Inc’s annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, which was held virtually for the first time, without shareholders, because of the pandemic. The meeting was streamed by Yahoo Finance. But he maintained his usual optimism that the United States would weather it successfully, citing its emergence from crises such as World War Two and the influenza pandemic a century ago.

I know the United States has to prepare its self for a pandemic like this. It is a national security issue. I know we are unprepared. The economy or healthcare system is not built for it. We could become a target for some extortion operation from a 3rd world country.
When I look at a map and study our resources. The United States has more then enough resources to be independent. With current technology there should be a easy banking system. There is no real reason for a depression other then corruption.
