OPINION: It is going to take genuine cooperation and engagement between government, business and unions to put differences aside and bring forward bold ideas and concepts with a simple goal of opening and expanding our economy.

The tireless efforts of provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, Minister of Health Adrian Dix, and their respective teams deserve our thanks and gratitude. Yet as government prepares to introduce its re-opening plan next week, it is critical that this plan not just define our path out of the current restrictions, but it must also provide an outline of how our communities bounce back from this pandemic and become even stronger over the long-term.

Government needs to get in front of the resulting social and economic impacts, and establish clear guidelines and initiatives that lay the foundation for a path forward. Over the coming weeks and months, governments all over the world will be turning their minds to economic competitiveness. Make no mistake, as a sub-national jurisdiction, we in B.C. have a huge task ahead of us. We weren’t competitive enough before this pandemic, and we now need to work with our business leaders and others to develop a plan that ensures B.C. can compete and win on the global stage.

ellisbross These numbers show we could open up, wide. Just keep the vulnerable isolated.

Like anyone gives a Royal shit about anything a B.C. Liberal has to say. BC Liberals Jacked this province up so badly that it may never recover, all while lining their own pockets and feathering their own nests with GOLD.

Oh finally he said something, we needed to go back to work two weeks ago.

Their liberals in name only. No where near it. The bums are all Social Credit in disguise. We’d be fools to let them even near the front doors of Victoria. They fucked over us over to many times,to crooked.Remember money laundering through the casinos is enough to say.HELL NO.

TIME TO COLLECT FORCED TAX, never mind VIRUS JOKE. NATURAL RIGHTS

Without strong economy fighting and calamity virus is also Difficult, it would be like investment in salty water

BC liberals? Pass

Andrew...please be informed...there will be no 'Bouncing back'. Would you care to walk-back your comments about 'renting is a wacky time of life and can be fun'?

The biggest fear, with the perception that BCNPD is doing a good job on Covid, is that we will actually be dumb enough to re-elect them next year. God help us.

The BC NDP brought in new and raised dozens of taxes, they burned through a significant surplus and crushed the Real Estate sector Now Covid came and crushed the economy - they need to eliminate all these taxes, levies and fees they brought in and Kick start the economy bcpoli

The opposition parties are starting to awaken.

Virus fight? 110 dead in bc. More will die from shut downs than that. Probably already.
