Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said that the country will experience an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases because of the disregard for safety guidelines put in place by citizens.
Ihekweazu while speaking at the Presidential Task Force briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday, said government may be forced to issue another lockdown if cases explode. He said, “It is not the guidelines per se, it is the thinking behind it. How do we want to manage the risk of explosion and transmission? Today, we might forgive a little bit because it is the first day.
“We will have infection because of what happened today, no doubt about that. But how can we learn from the mistakes of today into tomorrow, next tomorrow so by Friday hopefully we have normalised some of these things. “Yes, we knew today would be a problem because for the first time, people were let out of their homes but now they are out and we have seen the sunlight again, the challenge for us as a society is how do we now organise ourselves to mitigate these risks and limit transmission?
Na una sabi. Shebi una say una stupid
So introduce to us the next script. We know the plan all along
Aftermath lockdown what do you expect? A govt that couldn't successfully disburse 20k from all the donations to the less privileged for survival or make food available is cursed MBuhari OfficialAPCNg
They should get out abeg. How were people living before this coronavirus came. Like kings? Is the NCDCgov not aware of the poverty that has ravaged the economy and the people and the way they live. Are they just waking up from sleep.
Nigerians should take their safety very important and not gamble with it.
Why will what happened not have happened. The case of a bank that opened only one branch after 5 weeks of lockdown, How does that not exposed your poor sense of management. You should have known that there will crowd control crises. Educated failures.
Nigerian dont obey rules even Zebra crossing doesnt work here...NCDC and Nigeriagov should know better than endangering the lives of people
These moments are the reason why countries av government in place. Don’t listen to citizens, just act. Either ways, there will always be criticisms.
Don't we all know that😩😩😩
