Following similar closures from rivals, CBA on Wednesday confirmed it would redeploy about 500 of its branch staff to work in call centres or online operations and temporarily close branches around the country. CBA said most of the branches affected were in cities, and the vast majority of closures would be in a location within five kilometres of an operating CBA branch.
CBA's plans are similar to those announced last month by National Australia Bank, which said it would shut, and retrain staff to work with customers digitally.
Bullish!
I thought that was the general idea. I got marched out to the ATM last year and shown how to bank a cheq. when I had the temerity to front the counter with it....🤑
PlainJa04397437 There are still many elderly using branches, especially in small rural towns. Comm bank remains as one of the only options left for many. Temporary? Let’s see....
But I thought the country is opening up real soon....
