The boss of Heathrow Airport has told MPs that it is trialling large-scale temperature checks as the aviation industry struggles with coronavirus.
"If you want to get the UK economy started again, you have to get the aviation sector started again." Any flight between two destinations would have to comply with the highest level, with staff wearing personal protective equipment and all passengers wearing masks under the strictest level three, for example.
Heathrow's boss also revealed that he has not spoken to the UK's Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, since the beginning of the pandemic.

BBCWorld In Italy temperature checks in all the airports has been on place since early February. This did not prevent the contagion to spread. Most of the people at the early stage of the infection show no symptoms, many remain always totally asymptomatic.

Pointless, many don't have symptoms, and besides, a couple of tablets is all you need to get your temp down. It's been done before to evade temperature checks.

Talk about slow on the uptake! Why was this not in place in March? Why were no questions raised about people bringing it into the country from abroad? Most of us could see this and questioned it but never answered.

First coronavirus case in the UK 31st January. Heathrow 'trialling' passenger temperature checks on 6th May. Meanwhile, how many passengers travelled unchecked in more than 3 months after the first UK case?
I'd rather they were doing them in 'arrivals', like they should have been doing 4 months ago!
