IMF more negative on global economic projections

IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva says projections are clouded by the 'unknown behaviour of the virus', which has killed more than 270,000 people worldwide. – EPA pic, May 9, 2020.

THE International Monetary Fund head said yesterday that previous estimates for the world economy to contract by 3% this year were too optimistic. IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva, during a video-linked conference in Florence, said worsening indicators in some countries could weigh even further on this forecast.
