Australia’s trading relationship with China will continue to be “very important” as the nations look beyond the pandemic, COVID-19 Co-Ordination Commission Chair Nev Power says. “Our trading relationship with China is very important and has been developing progressively and will continue to be very important going forward,” Mr Power told Sky News.

Despite China and Australia insisting the recent suspension of four beef abattoirs in NSW and Queensland and a plan from Beijing to slap an 80 per cent tariff on barley are not linked to the inquiry, there are concerns a trade war could be on the horizon. Mr Power said maintaining close communication and contact was key to getting the relationship back on track.
