Sky News host Paul Murray says after 62 nations have come to support Australia’s call for a COVID-19 inquiry it shows “there are a lot more people who have our back”.

The Australian government believes China will not oppose a resolution on an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus ahead of a meeting of the World Health Assembly on Tuesday. The push from the global coalition of 62 nations has been outlined in a draft resolution which will put to the floor of the assembly on May 19.

“Some of those countries are absolute lightweights, and some of those countries are the absolute heavyweights,” Mr Murray said. Although 62 other nations as well as the European Union have come out in support of the resolution, only Australia is “going to be held up as the example” to the rest of the world about how China can “ruin our economy, and by extent our country”.
