According to The Townsville Bulletin, “Australia’s biggest wind farm providing low-cost energy for mining and industrial development has been proposed for Hughenden in North Queensland”. The North Queensland Renewable Energy Zone company is responsible for the investment which would create a number of jobs in the region.
Sky News host Peter Gleeson said the wind farm could produce power for the up and coming north-western minerals province which the $1.5 billion CopperString Project transmission link plans to unlock. “Energy is not a binary argument” and Australia should make use of a variety of different energy sources including nuclear, coal, gas and renewables, he said.
