The cabinet approved the appointment of Sethaput Suthiwart-Narueput as governor of the Bank of Thailand for five years from October 1. Sethaput had been widely tipped to get the job. He has sat on the BOT’s Monetary Policy Committee since 2014 and holds a doctorate in economics from Yale University.
