The NSW government has offered to help a community bid to bring an old Kings Cross theatre back to life to revitalise the area's night-time economy, which has flatlined in the wake of the lockout laws and the pandemic.
The comes after council's earlier financial contribution towards a draft plan for the former red-light district. The building, which has gone through several iterations over its lifetime, was last year bought by Abacus Property Group from film director George Miller. Potts Point Partnership chair Carrington Brigham said the business chamber was excited about the development."This feasibility study will identify how the Minerva Theatre can be restored and used practicably for future economic use and the potential value this would bring to Kings Cross would be huge," Mr Brigham said.
