Out-of-work Americans continued to seek assistance last week, as the economy remained in limbo amid spikes in coronavirus cases.

That latest surge means just over 58 million have sought aid for the first time in just 23 weeks.

The number of home loans that have received that short-term relief shrank slightly to 7.2% as of August 16, from 7.21% the week before according to the MBA's most recent survey. As more Americans seek jobless aid, the size of the weekly benefits they can receive has shrunk significantly. An extra $600 from the federal government ended in July, and Congress has not reached an agreement on a new relief package.

Those who do qualify for the extra $300 still face potential roadblocks. States have to reconfigure their systems to pass out the money which can lead to long delays, experts say. More than half of states have been approved for the extra $300 in unemployment insurance but Louisiana, Arizona and Texas are currently the only states that have begun handing out funds, according to the Century Foundation.

‘It’s been Covid, Covid, Covid’: Pro-Trump super PAC plans ad blitz on the economyAmericans are still grappling with a global pandemic that has claimed nearly 180,000 lives in the U.S. alone. But America First Action, the largest super PAC supporting President Donald Trump’s reelection, is about to go all-in on the economy. Apparently the RNC got 6 times the amount of viewers first night, compared to the DNC first night. Why? Dems are like a broken record with their Trump hate and there is little actual political content in the Biden camp. Everything including cancer has been labeled China flu death.
