June and July showed a strong rebound after gross domestic product plunged by an annualized 38.7 per cent in the second quarter, the most ever. Still, Canada’s economy isn’t expected to fully make up the losses until 2022.
Every week, Nanos Research surveys 250 Canadians for their views on personal finances, job security and their outlook for the economy and real estate prices. Bloomberg publishes four-week rolling averages of the 1,000 responses.Sentiment improved in three of the four subcomponents last week: personal finances, job security and real estate.
The outlook on the domestic economy became slightly more pessimistic, with 47.4 per cent of respondents saying it would be weaker in the next 6 months, and 23 per cent saying it would be stronger. Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces posted increases in sentiment while decreases were observed in British Columbia and on the Prairies.
Canadians continue to become more bullish on the housing market, with 40 per cent of respondents expecting the value of real estate in their neighbourhood to increase in the next six months. That’s the highest percentage since mid-March before the pandemic shut down the economy
They should be. There’s an idiot at helm. Not to mention Justin Trudeau.
Really? How? How many businesses have closed & now on their way to be claiming bankruptcy within the next few months, mostly restaurants. Thanks to our dirty politicians that allowed this to happen in the name of NWO while they inflate their own pockets! disgrace fordnation
Really who was feeling optimistic? Politicians & PS union employees sitting at home from day 1 on full pay & benefits are the only people who haven't suffered anything this the lockdown. Trudeau used this pandemic as a financial playground for his friends to cash in on!
Increased optimism. 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, because Trudeau saw this as an opportunity to trash it.
Government should throw more money and then more, let’s see how long can this throwing money last
Went for a walk in downtown Toronto on Saturday. It was dead. Most of the shops and restaurants had no walk in customers.
We were before the pandemic with horrible GDP numbers compared to the US...
Trudeau, trudeau, trudeau!!
Kick the can down the road.....
Right! And look at that picture some staff has to spray equipment down? Why? Is there one documented case globally of someone contracting the virus from a surface. I can not find one. It just doesnt happen. Can it? Of course if you lick a surface where someone just spit!
More fake news!!
