Manufacturers seek another year to comply with workers’ housing law

THE manufacturing industry has appealed to the Human Resources Ministry to allow companies another 12 months to undertake extensive adjustments so as to comply with the Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990 . Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers president Soh Thian Lai, in a statement today, said the RM50,000 fine for each offence is “too drastic” given the current state of the economy.
