The volume of air traffic passengers in key Asia Pacific markets will “remain well below” next year compared to pre-coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic levels, Fitch Ratings said.

“Airline passenger volume could improve faster than we forecast if an effective vaccine is distributed sooner than we believe or if there is more success in containing the pandemic,” Fitch Ratings added. Despite successfully defeating the health crisis, air carriers in Thailand and Malaysia may continue suffering from weak international trips.
