Ahead of tomorrow's Federal Budget, there are more signs that a slowing population rate will have serious implications for the national economy.
"We get young, educated migrants, they tend to get high paying jobs so they pay more tax than the average. Often they don't qualify for things like Medicare benefits for a while. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says he has no option but to spend big in the budget tomorrow, to try to create jobs and drive unemployment down.
I'm sure the planet we are trashing will breathe a sigh of relief.
.... ‘another hit to the economy’ actually means fewer immigrants, less upward pressure on house prices & traffic congestion. . . the pro’s are endless . . . but the critical race theory ‘experts’ will call it ‘racist’
Puppy breeders are doing well
mickdoyle94 JonHealy That's good news. To grow the GDP just by population growth is a bad idea anyway. It is unsustainable due to resource depletion. The CO2 absorption capacity in the atmosphere and oceans is also to be seen as a resource Green_Dot D_AccessEcon
At some point we run out of resources and then turn on each other It’s madness thinking more people will solve the problem
Patriotic Australians will perish unless we increase consumption of the Earth's resources. If you can't root new lives into existence, for God's sake eat their share! Make Austraya Great Again!
Fantastic.
Who cares about the economy? Less people is a good thing for the planet.
This will make the agenda 21 people so happy. Look at COVID kicking goals, just as intended.
So stopping population growth is a bad thing now?
It should be looked up as a blessing. We need to move past the myth of ongoing population growth being a positive. The comes a time (ages ago) when it is a negative.
The financial experts will figure it out. The pandemic has highlighted the problems of dense population, we need to learn how to live with what we have, and reduce immigration.
You would think it would increase with everyone cooped up at home
excellent we dont need more people in Australia
