The Australian’s Adam_Creighton says the cheapest way to open Australia’s economy is to 'remove the various restrictions that are in place.”

The Australian’s Adam Creighton says the cheapest way to open Australia’s economy is to "remove the various restrictions that are in place.” His comment comes regarding the change in the Australian government’s fiscal approach. “I’m very pleased with these rumours the 2024 tax cuts will be brought forward,” Mr Creighton told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“The argument is we need stimulus, and we certainly do. “I would much rather see the stimulus on the revenue side by cutting taxes, because at least that way it makes the economy more efficient, people are spending their own money on the things they want. “The cheapest way to get the economy going again, of course, is to remove the various restrictions that are in place.”

Adam_Creighton Agreed. Scrap all internal border closures first, restrictions need only to be applied to hotspot post codes and you'll see a vast improvement both socially and economically in the Australian society. A new United model is needed so we can become one country again not 7 odd.

If no vaccine comes, Australia will have 'wasted decades worth of debt' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says without an effective vaccine, Australia will need to learn to live with the virus but would have wasted decades worth of debt and a whole year because it pretended COVID was a temporary, not long-term challenge. \n\n“Have we shut down too hard, too long, especially in Victoria, adding unnecessary economic pain to our health challenge,” he said. \n\n“It only makes sense if there is a vaccine, and we still haven't got one, and the budget is predicated on us getting one next year.\n\n“Let's hope there is a vaccine, in reality, some sort of a vaccine will be used I reckon, even if it is not highly effective they’ll get it out there and it will give governments some cover to open up more ... but I still worry we have mismanaged this threat very badly.”\n\nMr Kenny said those countries which had higher mortality rates at first, but falling rates now, might not have been reckless but are likely just ahead of where Australia will eventually end up. \n\n“Except we've blown the bank along the way,” he said.\n\n'Only time will tell whether Sweden, the US, the UK and others are actually coming to grips faster with a reality we can't stave off, or whether our expensive efforts to disrupt out economy will get us through relatively unscathed, in a health sense.'\n Only if the goal is not to open up to the rest of the world. Wonder what other countries with 0 cases are going to do? I live in the USA trust me enjoy your freedoms while you still can and keep the virus out and down Vic stuffed up but the rest of the states can operate And most people aren’t travelling anywhere OS regardless of numbers so you aren’t missing tourism
