Cash payments worth $500 to flow in a bid to stimulate economy

Aged, carer, family and disability welfare recipients will receive $500 in cash payments in the next five months, in a move the Federal Government hopes will stimulate the Australian economy. Both payments will be $250Two $250 payments — to be paid in December this year and March next year — will come as Australia contends with its first recession in almost three decades.

The payments are part of the Federal Budget, which Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will hand down at 7:30pm AEDT. The recipients will be people who receive the age pension, disability support pension, carer payment, family tax benefit, family tax benefit lump sum, double orphan pension, carer allowance, Commonwealth seniors health card, pensioner concession card and veteran card.second $750 payment went to 5 million AustraliansThe budget is set to record the biggest deficit since World War II, with debt set to hit new highs.

Seems it will hardly touch the sides. Old levera being pulled here not coming up with anything new.

Well that won’t buy a lot of chooks will it? Everything has gone up, grocery bills much more. For those existing on the pension it is too little. We aren’t all rich retirees.

Too Late Again! Jobkeeper & Jobseeker were Two Months Too Late Too! International Travel Too Late! Ruby Princess Too Late even after Scatmo Promised! Bushfires Aerial Tankers & ADF Too Late! Scatmo & the LNP are always too late except for Pay Rises!

I'm sorry, but why isn't this the fucking headline?

Oh ka lu ka la, a hole $500 over a 3 month period for the most needy and vulnerable, thats going to save the economy....

I wonder if the government actually knows that $250x2 is not actually going to be doing anything if you are that poor to qualify for it.

I'm already going mad with ideas on how to spend it

Yet again fuck all for single people with no kids. They’re not important. And all these bonuses and plans for people to spend. What a joke. Doubling welfare payments when most of the country is shut down and people can’t spend. Just pissing billions up the wall

PCKJ3627 2 x $250 payments? Oh wow that should definitely stimulate the economy 🤦‍♀️

Limited tokenism shot in the arm for pensioners etc but long term shovelling of money to the mates is my prediction re budget

If the govt really wanted to stimulate the economy, they’d give welfare recipients a permanent increase.

What a joke. Only 2 payments of $250. That will go straight for a power bill or even the first for a few xmas gifts and chocolates for easter. How is that meant to stimulate the economy?

Seriously? $250 in December & $250 in March 2021. Stop publishing Govt propaganda.

Pensioners got$750 Coronavirus Supplement as other welfarers got$6400 more. Pensioners didn't get their pay indexation rise at1.8% worth over$400. Now$500 but wait LNP thieving(Robodebt), murdering (NDIS, Robodebt & AgedCare ) bast*rds are making us wait for it 👎 FU LNP!

We need the money the Govt is foregoing in tax cuts to go to the people who will spend it. That is the low paid and those on welfare. You can't motivate people to work if they can't keep a roof over head or food in their mouths. And there are many who can't do both.

'2x $250 payments to be paid to welfare recipients so federal government can pat themselves on the back for screwing over welfare recipients'

oh wow not as if cost of living food etc has not increased by far more than that or that our pensioners are amongst the most poorest in the world. While rich millionaires get thousands in tax cuts. JUST FO its so insulting its beyond belief

FuckingLOL

more cash splash Cash galore

This didn't stimulate the economy last time. Many gamble it or paid bills.

Doesn't even cover cost of increased utilities over past few months. Thanks anyway though you tightarses... now let's watch you give 10x that amount away in tax cuts for the top 10% of income earners.

Well that’ll get the economy pumping 🙄 auspol

Back in my day that was a good weekend on the drink with the boys and maybe a punt or two...

the libs are relying on whatever members of their voter base that are still alive at the next election will be too stricken with dementia to remember how they were thrown under the bus

Thankyou ScoMo and team.

Easy fix.

$500 in one lump I might spend on furniture but $250 will probably just be absorbed by bills

What a drop in the ocean Try some permanent increases
