Pledging to launch the U.K. on the path of a “green industrial revolution” over the next 10 years, Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday put new energy investments at the heart of his strategy to help the economy recover from the coronavirus crisis.
“As Saudi Arabia is to oil, the U.K. is to wind,” he said, adding that his plan would help support 60,000 jobs. The prime minister’s office indicated in a memo that £160 million will be invested by the government to upgrade ports and infrastructure, and increase the country’s offshore wind capacity, currently the largest in the world.Johnson in his address also took care to reassure his supporters that he was in full control of the government after being infected by Covid-19 and hospitalized in April. “I have not lost my mojo,” he insisted.
He certainly is full of wind.
What will we do when Scotland leaves the UK, given they have most of the capacity?
