Prime Minister Scott Morrison says if the coronavirus outbreak on the Northern Beaches continues without having a broader impact, it’s effect on Australia’s economy would be “very minimal”. Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed on Monday New South Wales recorded 15 locally acquired cases of the coronavirus overnight – all of which are directly linked to the Avalon cluster.
Probed by a reporter about the economic impact the recent COVID outbreak would have on the county, Mr Morrison said it was still too early to identify to what extent the cluster would affect the nation. “What we’re looking at here is an outbreak in one quite geographically defined part of Sydney which, at the moment, is not suggesting broader seeding or having a broader impact,” Mr Morrison said.
