A group of tourism organisations have sent a letter to the Prime Minister pointing out a huge problem with the plan for half-price flight tickets.

Victoria’s economy was left reeling after bushfires and the pandemic last year halted trade and caused thousands of job losses around the state.

The letter, signed by 11 tourism bodies, stated the recovery package needed to add Albury, Bendigo, Mildura and Tullamarine airports to the scheme. “Unlike other states, Victoria has been dealing with the dual impacts of the 2020 summer bushfires and COVID-19 pandemic. Victoria’s Murray region was impacted economically for 41 weeks last year, and it’s anticipated tourism hot spots like the Great Ocean Road may take until 2024 to completely recover.
