Sunday was a watershed day in Australia’s pandemic recovery: cases of community transmission were recorded in four states. It’s the first time so many jurisdictions have recorded community transmission in months.
As Greater Sydney continued its two-week lockdown, parts of the Northern Territory entered a snap lockdown and Perth introduced new rules after cases were detected there. Queensland also recorded additional cases of community transmission. Several states have closed their borders. It comes after a miner from interstate was transiting through Queensland and was placed into hotel quarantine where international travellers were also quarantining. It’s believed the miner caught the virus there, then passed it on to colleagues on a mine site.
