Soldiers on Tuesday prevented traders at the Timber and Building Materials markets in Orlu, Imo State, to open for the day’s business.

Most of the traders in the two markets had on Monday refused to open their shops in solidarity with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing terrorism-related charges at the Federal High court in Abuja. The soldiers, who were manning a checkpoint close to the two big markets in Orlu, barred the traders from opening their shops for any commercial activity.

Our correspondent was told by the traders that the soldiers ordered the gatemen at the entrances of the two big markets not to open the gates. While the military continued with their stop and search duty in front of the two markets, traders who came as early as 7am met the entrance gates of the two markets under lock and key.

Nice. It should remain locked till the end of the trial. Since they are trading with Nigerian currency and closing shops for the Biafran fraud. They were forcing people to stay at home. Let them know what it feels like to force people to do things against their will.

Enough is enough.

Mumu Pig 🐖🐷 you will not be free this is a lesson to you and your supporters

They're trying to intimidate biafrans by use of gun. I am a biafran for ever.

What a useless country where leaders always looking for ways of discomforting the people.

MNK is now being charged with terrorist related issues. You guys will continue to fail! Continue reporting garbage.

E-pain them that Igbos stand with MaziNnamdiKanu that is how black south Africans stand with NelsonMandela until victory is achieved. It's all part of the sacrifices. Eventually madiba was more popular than all his tormentors put together.

This govt is just acting f○○lishly. Why the shut of imo market? Biafra will stand no matter the oppression

We are in a military rule. Case closed.

Since they’re not ready for business, let them stay at home.
