The head of the peak body representing real estate agents in NSW has condemned the regulator’s decision not to investigate suggestions disgraced MP Daryl Maguire potentially broke the law by receiving windfalls on real estate deals without a licence.
They said whether Mr Maguire had broken the law depended on the specific circumstances of the transactions. The ICAC has been examining text messages from Mr Maguire to the Premier Gladys Berejiklian, who he was formerly in a secret relationship with, in which he refers to receiving $5000 after the sale of a motel.“The guy has been paid five grand to do something. Maybe it’s something completely unrelated to the transaction, but on the face of it, it appears to be,” Mr McKibbin said.
