ANALYSIS: NSW now has a plan to reopen after lockdown, but will Australia's economy bounce back this time?

The New South Wales government has now outlined its plan to reopen most sectors of the economy to vaccinated people, probably as early as mid-October.

And there is a firm hope that the state's economy will bounce back strongly from these lockdowns when the reopening arrives, along with Victoria and the ACT once they also emerge from lockdown. And with fewer opportunities to spend money at restaurants and concerts and other activities during the lockdowns, there was a degree of enforced saving occurring.

As people surged back to work, the conditions were such that the official unemployment rate fell for eight consecutive months,Consumer confidence , and business confidence both jumped after last year's lockdownsBut then the New South Wales government lost control of the Delta variant in June this year.

There’s more to life than doom and gloom.😁

The economy is an abstract term. The question should be about people's well being: will they have enough to eat, a place to live, status of their physical and mental health etc

It will be a slow/painful recovery for small business. Government has not thought through the impact of policing the vaccination compliance. If it falls to business it will see significant incremental expense, and leave them open to reputational damage / abuse by customers
