The report, which assesses the impact of key Covid-19 budget measures since 2020, said that various fiscal measures, including the Jobs Support Scheme and SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package, and monetary policies contributed to helping Singapore’s resident unemployment rate stay low.
The scheme was introduced in Budget 2020 to help employers retain local workers during the worst period of the pandemic. A joint study by the Ministry of Manpower and MOF estimated that there was a 10 percentage point increase in the effective JSS wage subsidy. The SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package aimed to provide training and employment opportunities to local jobseekers affected by the pandemic.
