SINGAPORE — All Singaporeans aged 21 and above will receive cash payouts of up to S$1,600, which will be distributed over the next five years, to help them deal with the impending increase in the Goods and Services Tax (GST), said Finance Minister Lawrence Wong on Friday (Feb 18).

These payouts are part of a S$640 million enhancement to the Assurance Package, now worth S$6.6 billion, that was first announced in 2020 to cushion the impact of the GST hike.

“For the majority of Singaporean households, the offsets from the Assurance Package will cover at least five years of additional GST expenses,” said Mr Wong. “For lower-income households, they will receive much more – with offsets covering about 10 years’ worth of additional GST expense.” Those earning over S$100,000 annually will receive smaller amounts of between S$100 and S$200 a year, totalling S$700. A similar amount will be given to individuals who own more than one property, regardless of their income level.Additional cash bonuses totalling between S$600 and S$900 will be disbursed to lower-income senior citizens over three years from 2023 to 2025, through a GST Voucher - Cash scheme.

Is the government giving money to those earning more than $34,000 per annum? Even to those who are earning $100k and above? Please do not give false hope by using the word ALL if there is an income cap on who is eligible for the cash payouts.. 🥺🥺🥺

Thank you foreign residents to pay for all that 👍

and pay it back via all the taxes
