Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland said that €500m was spent in 2021 in the Irish economy across film, television drama, documentary and animation production.

During the pandemic audiences turned to television and film for entertainment, but figures released today show that those who make onscreen entertainment also had a very busy period.

The spend was across both local and international productions and around 12,000 local jobs are being supported. - In 2021, local Irish film activity increased by 52% from 2019, reaching the highest year ever for the category.- Local TV drama production spend increased by 40% from 2020, showcasing the impact of increased funding and support.

Well since RTE pays €400 million of our money every year for programming this is hardly an amazing return is it?

Unfortunately in the UK there is very little Irish or any other TV or films from other countries. Consider the amount of Irish ppl in the UK it s very regrettable.
