Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard is defending his government’s decision to transfer one-time cash payments to most Quebeckers while it demands more money from Ottawa for health care.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau criticized provinces that are seeking more money from Ottawa for health care while spending billions of dollars in inflation-related payments or tax cuts.

Can’t Quebec do anything except ask for money

I get why rightist politicians might have a mini tantrum about this -self interest only world view. But surprisingly, 🇨🇦 media & certain op-Ed writers like RobynUrback also react absurdly to governmental financial support. As if that negatively affects Canadians in any way.

How about dropping the draconian Bill 96 first? It makes it almost impossible for English speakers to get health care in their own language
