The biggest fintech startups in Europe are producing a large chunk of new founders in the industry.It's a sign that Europe's tech ecosystem is maturing, according to VC firm Accel.
Europe's 61 fintech startups valued at $1 billion or higher have spawned 310 startups founded by their ex-employees, according to findings from Dealroom and the venture capital firm Accel, which invested early in fintech firms such as GoCardless and Monzo. A lack of experienced operators — people who have worked at startups that go on to be successful — isby industry observers as a reason why Europe lags America and China when it comes to producing big-hitting tech firms that eventually list. Those who do often run off to Silicon Valley and take their expertise to the US.
And just imagine what could be done if a single one did something useful or altruistic at all. Too bad it's all just more adtech and other manipulative garbage every time!
