Not as thought they wouldn't. But imagine their outrage if he had been in Labor or the Greens. That notwithstanding, the amount is the better part of a cheap undergraduate degree spent on a domestic lobbying vanity trip - that is the issue that is problematic here.

I wouldn’t expect anything else from the most corrupt government ever

Just to put a voice of common sense to it all. Wife and I are on a Body Corporate committee. To save money the meetings use Skype or phone conferencing. Modern technology! What a concept! One doesn't need a face to face meeting. Geez they even offer that on an iPhone.

of course they bloody well did! The regulatory system for these ridiculous expenditures needs a major overhaul!! BTW I am sure Cormann offered to give the people he met a free ride to Canberra on his return or did he leave them to book their own flights at taxpayer expense!

Was it a national emergency? No! Could it have been handled on another day? Yes! Did the plane have to fly on to Perth and return from there? No! Is this acceptable expenditure? No! Another nail!

Of course they back it. They are all shifty AF and rorting the system as well. auspol kickthismobout ElectionNOW

Purkie Burkie was banging his then mistress now partner on the Taxpayers purse. Labor thought that was acceptable. auspol

Of course and thus will be covering Nazi supporter from QLD's airfares to Melbourne. voteLNPout2019

lyncsmith Why don't the msm use Tony Burke as prime example of a pollie having not only his snout but his face in the trough . Never seen a word from MSM about his rorting of the travel allowance .

Of course they would, they’re all doing the same thing! Parasites the lot!

As they would back him because their all rorting the system blind till election time

You obviously needed a new target to attack. Be sure when the finger is pointed at someone there are three fingers pointing back at yourself.

Total garbage. Of course there are commercial flights for that itinerary.

DID YOU EVER CONSIDER OUR HOMELESS AUSTRALIANS YOU ROTTEN BANANA.

Twitter ratio says that’s likely to be bull is the pub test.

They would, and yes, likely ‘within the rules’. But the ‘rules’ are far to broad. Trusting thorough review is undertaken and loopholes closed. Unless in case of a National emergency, there’s absolutely no excuse for politicians using anything other than commercial flights auspol

Of course, we milk the public purse because we believe in free enterprise

billkinn Triple Newstart! More than double the Age pension, a whole year at minimum wage. Oh yes it is a problem.

Most corrupt govt ....Federal ICAC NOW auspol

The expenses & especially the travel expenses are unacceptable on all sides of politics. Hopefully the ALP will change the expenses system. Just because an expense is within the guidelines does not make it right. Politicians need to be forced to take the cheapest option.

Talk about a beat up, it was official business, why should he have to pay his own way for our duty, the staff wages and other costs are paid so attributing those cost is a lie from the opposition who are now desperate to find a scandal to hide the fact that Bill is a dud!!!

Of course they are. He's a 'lifter'.....he failed....but he spent 37k on failing. That's what this lot calls lifting Early election please

Well FUKIN Surprise Surprise Surprise auspol

Who would have ever predicted that?

One flight = 3 Newstart centerlink clients' 12 months income with $1000 to spare. Gov't approved spending! How much waiste is undetected?

How can they defend it? Australian Taxpayers are being used as an ATM! Politicians are screwing us, stealing from us & treating themselves like gods! Ask any Australian taxpayer if they're happy with this corrupt creep flying around Australia on private jets! It's unacceptable

This government backs every loser that gets caught ripping of Australian taxpayers. Doesn't give much confidence in this bunch of rippers, rooters & rorters. It's a cess pit of filth MathiasCormann ScottMorrisonMP TonyAbbottMHR SteveIronsMP 1 disaster headline after the next

They defend this waste of money by simply saying it is within the guidelines?Guidelines designed by themselves for themselves. They all think the public is stupid. Well their time hopefully has come with this election. Neither deserve to be in Parliament.

Or he couldn’t BEAR to fly economy like most of us can barely afford to...

There’s NO justification for this waste of OUR money...

As we are living in such a technological age why are they not using Skype or FaceTime for these meetings?

The government backs corrupt minister every day .We the taxpayers definitely don’t back a Minister who thinks 37k is not an issue.Well maybe the unions should call a RC on the Morrision Gov for their continuous corruption .

Where did he go ? Three times round the world ?

Of course they back him. They are rorting the system for all they can get out of it, plus they know the end is nigh

Why Is It So Easy to Scare Us?

Great value

MathiasCormann you spent more than our annual pension on your flight to Pertj via Adelaide just to push your ideology - disgraceful

Of course they are in it pigs in the trough Wake up Australia

It is indefensible !!!! It needs to stop

The rorting continues. Can’t wait to vote them out.

The more Govt backs it - The Less We do. CROOKS.

Of course they’d back him. He’s their friggin’ Finance Minister after all. Shit almighty!

Fake news

It’s too much.

There is no justification for this $37 000 taxpayer cash splash by the Federal Finance Minister.. of all people!!

Let's not forget they backed Bronwyn Bishop as well. Their doing so doesn't make it right.

What a disgrace. $207k is the base salary for a minister, what gives him the right to spend my tax (theft) money on a junket. Prove to me why it was good for Australian taxpayers!

I thought it but much but then heard sarah Hanson young on abc saying it’s wrong what a hypocrite

Who else did he pay for in that cost? Other public servants? Why did he travel? National Minister Business Class? This tweet gives nothing. Very mischievous.

Course they Would. Duh!

No accountability

fjerez59 'course it has......! yukyukBarnaby

Of course, they have- they are all pigs feeding at the trough of taxpayer funded perks- the sooner they are booted out, the better. On another note, am sure that the cigars smoked with Hockey were also taxpayer funded!

Maybe Cormann can collect 370,000 cane toads to pay it back.

Actually there is nothing to defend...everyting was done well within the rules and appropiately so.

A defence jet.... Jeez 37 grand, wish they pushed him out the plane with a parachute if your paying for that experience.

Fair enough, well done. The angry peasants love wallowing in outrage and anger.

Discussing abuse!

Haha when you peasants realise these mongrol dogs are playing y'all ? The entire government and power structure needs to be dismantled To do that you must grow a pair and stop'working for the greedy little man' and start a fucking revolution

I thought it was Labor who were financial reckless?

Could you imagine the uproar if it was a Labor MP blowing $37k of taxpayers money to get chauffeured around on a VIP jet? It would be on the front page of the Telegraph / Courier Mail /Herald Sun for days Alan Jones and Ray Hadley would be calling for the MP to be sacked

Of course they have. The most corrupt government in our history with multiple culprits! Most will be out of a job in May & hopefully a federal ICAC will be retrospective!

That amount of money could have put a kid thru uni by paying their hex debt
