A millennial mom will 'basically do whatever it takes' to avoid a full-time job so she can be with her kids. Here's how she's scraping together part-time work and 2 side hustles.

While Megan is fortunate enough to receive some childcare support from her husband — who works from home two days per week — and a $135-per-month preschool program her son attends for two-and-a-half hours twice a week, she says managing all her responsibilities can be very stressful.

"Trying to balance two little ones, preschool drop off, naps, cooking meals, good quality time and working, can be so stressful," she said. Megan says the challenge of balancing everything is"definitely not for everyone," and that in an ideal world, she wouldn't work — other than as a mom — at all. That said, the time she's able to spend with her children makes it all worth it.

"I know I'll never get this valuable time back with my kids," she said."I can spend the rest of my life working if I want, but my kids are only kids for so long."Subscribe to push notifications

Florida is winning America's Battle for People: housing, jobs, taxesPeople are flocking to Florida, and it's not just because of the sunshine and beaches. If states want to win the battle for people, they need to learn from Florida, EmilSkandul writes. 👇 longreads The population of the Sunshine State exploded over the coronavirus pandemic. The flexibility of remote work, the boom in entrepreneurship, and the availability of gig work have led to a migration away from the industrial centers of the past. EmilSkandul It was primarily because of cheap housing. FL is still cheaper than CA, but not really cheaper than metro NY (cheaper than Manhattan, sure, but almost everything is). EmilSkandul Whoever wrote this article probably isn’t from a cold weather climate. The weather and beaches are the number one reason most people move to Florida
