Tackling the rising cost of living was a key challenge Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland faced ahead of tabling her federal budget Tuesday.

OTTAWA — How does the federal government support Canadians grappling with the soaring cost of living without fuelling inflation?that sought to balance a series of relief measures with fiscal restraint.

The expanded program will offer coverage to families with an annual income of less than $90,000, with no co-payments for families with incomes under $70,000. Money would begin to flow at the end of 2023. The expansion would also require employers to report which of their employees already have dental insurance through their jobs on their T4 slips: the program is only for Canadians who don’t have private dental coverage.

More than $5 billion was committed to launching the program in last year’s budget, focusing on children under 12 from low-income families. Costing $2.5 billion and expected to impact some 11 million low- and modest-income Canadians, the boosted credit will see eligible couples with two children get up to $467, single people without kids up to $234, and seniors up to an extra $225.Making tax filing easier

The propaganda arm of the liberal_party is hard at work trying to sell the budget to Canadians, I see.

Quit your job so that you actually qualify for something in this bullshit budget?

Supermarkets are keeping inflation high with their massively INFLATED prices!!!! JustinTrudeau

Remove the carbon tax scam. It is a key contributor to the inflation of consumer goods.

Smoke, mirrors, lies and incompetence

It can’t

... and she failed.

This is a joke right? There is nothing in there to help the working class. It's great kids get free dental care, but what about the working class adults who need it? I guessed we should just go kill ourselves right?

If our population is 38M, and we have 11M low income struggling to buy groceries, you are admitting that 1/3 or 30% of Canada is struggling to buy food. How is this progress and lifting us out of poverty? A one time $240 won’t buy 2 chicken breasts Carbon tax in action. Pathetic

Chrystia Freeland is trying her best but she's too occupied with the conflict in her home country. I think Canadians need to just cool down a little and give her time. Maybe next year's budget will be 'to your pleasing' but I honestly doubt it, with how impatient so many are

Put a hard cap on price and rent increases like we did in the 70s. Don't promote these less than Band-Aid solutions as something that will help

Margaret Franklin on rebranding finance as a career for women - BNN BloombergAs president and CEO of the CFA Institute, Margaret Franklin is turning her attention to growing diversity in the finance field, with a special focus on attracting young women and retaining them throughout their careers. Not sure this has to be labelled as it is already a career that has no gender bias. Seems nothing is newsworthy anymore unless it is controversial. Has creating the perception of gender inequality now a marketing tool?
