Community college is on the rise for Gen Z as high tuition rates and job opportunities encourage them to skip 4-year degrees

, community college enrollment rose 0.5% in spring 2023.

Across the US for the 2022-2023 school year, the average cost of a four-year in-state tuition at a public university was $10,950; four-year out-of-state tuition at a public university was $28,240; and four-year tuition at a private university was $39,400,Meanwhile, the annual tuition of a two-year in-district college was $3,860. Multiverse, a future-of-work tech startup based in London, recently surveyed 1,008 parents in the US who have children ages 12-19.

According to NSC, two-year majors in computer and information sciences and support services saw a 9.7% increase in enrollment this spring, mechanic and repair technologies/technicians rose 8.2%, personal and culinary services increased by 9.7%, and transportation and materials moving jumped 11.8%.
