Google launches a new AI-powered tool that allows shoppers to see how clothes look on different models

Google has introduced a new feature that allows online shoppers to try clothes on different models.

The new tool – which launched on Wednesday to US shoppers – is designed to accurately show how various items of clothing would"drape, fold, cling, stretch, and form wrinkles and shadows" on real models in a variety of poses, according to Google's blog. The models' sizes range from XXS to 4XL and these women have different ethnicities, skin tones, bodies, and hair types.

Users just have to tap the"Try On" badge on search, which is currently available for women's tops across brands like Anthropologie, Everlane, Loft, and H&M – and then pick a model they think looks like their body the most. is the inability to see how an item actually looks on you before buying it. For years, different companies have looked for ways to incorporate this technology into the shopping experience but it hasn't really taken off.

The tech giant is also letting shoppers refine their search to find similar items by selecting specific colors, styles, and patterns and will be able to see options from retailers across the web. Sign up for notifications from Insider! Stay up to date with what you want to know.
