Australian shares are poised to open higher, tracking gains in New York. The key focus today is a speech by RBA governor Philip Lowe, a rate decision at the RBNZ and tonight’s June US CPI data.In New York: BHP +2.2% Rio +2.2% Atlassian +0.6%The local currency edged modestly higher; the Bloomberg spot dollar index slipped 0.3 per cent.

The yield on the US 10-year note edged down 2 basis points to 3.97 per cent at 4.59pm in New York.“US stocks rose as bond yields remained capped as Wall Street looks like it is ready to move beyond a pivotal inflation report that should suggest interest rates will stay higher for longer,” Oanda’s Edward Moya said. “Headline CPI might fall to 2.9 per cent and core could see the lowest reading since 2021.
