Inside the buzzy newsletter a Netflix assistant launched to create a ‘blueprint’ for breaking into Hollywood — featuring tea from workers at Disney, CBS, and more

A Hollywood assistant role has long been a launching point for a career in entertainment.

"There is no blueprint for this industry, or for rising the ranks. You have to figure it out for yourself," the 25-year-old creative assistant on unscripted series at Netflix told Insider. It was a"totally untapped market," said Campo, who joined Netflix in 2021, where she's worked on series like"Perfect Match," a dating competition featuring host Nick Lachey, and contributed her two cents from time to time on prospective show pitches.

One recent edition featured an interview with Emma Weiss, an assistant to the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment who previously assisted agents at CAA. Others who have participated in Q&As include Chautauqua Ordway, a development and showrunner's assistant to Jonathan Groff, who executive produced ABC's"Black-ish;" and Alyssa Tumale, a post-production assistant on CBS'"The Drew Barrymore Show.

At Brown, she studied theater and playwriting; later she interned for shows like CNBC's"Mad Money" and"The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon. But it was during a rotation as an NBCUniversal page in the Universal Television Alternative Studio that she discovered her passion for unscripted.
