Move to offer state funding to tech giant comes after it warns high costs here could make Ireland less attractive as a destination for investment

The government has opened the door to paying large subsidies to help tech giant Intel manage its energy costs in a bid to secure future investments from the largest private company in Ireland.

Simon Coveney, the Minister for Enterprise, said the government is “very actively” exploring the possibility of providing energy grants to Intel – the country’s largest private employer, with more than 5,000 staff.
