has given an assurance that the government will establish the Gig Economy Commission Malaysia as soon as possible to improve social protection and the welfare of workers in the industry.
“Workers in the informal sector in Malaysia do not get any protection unless they contribute to Socso ...in fact, for several years the activities of these gig economy workers have been going on in this country, but they have been left behind. “I am confident that the Prime Minister and the Cabinet will approve the establishment of this commission,” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister.
“One of SEGiM’s roles is to help regulate the gig industry with clear regulations to ensure compliance, protect workers’ rights, and promote a fair industry environment.
