U.S. stocks opened mostly lower Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average threatening to snap its win streak, as investors look ahead to the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.02% was down 0.1% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.02% slipped less than 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.

35% gained 0.e%, according to FactSet data, at last check. The Fed will announce on Wednesday the outcome of its two-day policy meeting, with investors largely expecting the central bank will hike its benchmark rate by a quarter percentage point to a targeted range of 5.25% to 5.5%. Meanwhile, data on consumer confidence are expected to be released Tuesday at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
