KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened slightly higher today but retreated thereafter as investors remained on the sidelines due to the lack of fresh leads, dealers said.
“We expect the lower liners to see improved trading sentiments, with investors to re-position ahead of the barrage of corporate earnings releases. At 9.31am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI eased 1.82 points to 1,455.34 from 1,457.16 at Friday’s close.On the broader market, however, gainers surpassed losers 298 to 207, while 263 counters were unchanged, 1,561 untraded and 13 others suspended.Among the heavyweights, Maybank and Tenaga Nasional fell 2 sen each to RM9 and RM9.78, respectively, Public Bank went down 1 sen to RM4.15, CIMB slipped 3 sen to RM5.58 and Petronas Chemicals declined 6 sen to RM6.79.
