Party’s finance spokesman tells Dublin economics workshop that emergency powers will be needed to fix housing crisis

Sinn Féin would tax the Irish people fairly and spend those taxes wisely if elected to office, its finance spokesman Pearse Doherty has said.

In a speech to the Dublin Economics Workshop on Friday, Doherty outlined his party's priorities are housing and childcare. Doherty sought to counter media suggestions that the party is abandoning its left-wing policies to move to the centre, saying the centre"has moved decisively towards Sinn Féin."
