The bass guitarist for the black metal band Cradle of Filth, Jon Kennedy, has died in a car crash in the UK, aged 44. The accident happened on the A55 expressway near Broughton in Wales on September 25, The Mirror reported. Band frontman Dani Filth has paid tribute to his former bandmate, calling him “a great bassist and singer”. “He was a great bassist and singer who filled in for Cradle at a time of such magical import, mayhem and mischief,” Filth said.
The band was formed in the UK in 1991, and continues to produce music including songs The Death of Love, Nymphetamine and Her Ghost in the Fog. Along with Cradle of Filth, Kennedy performed with the black metal band Hecate Enthroned. “This isn’t just a huge loss for his family and friends, but for the thousands of music fans and genre lovers that he touched and inspired,” Hecate Enthroned said in a statement.
